Tashi delek! I’m Emmi (Em) from Vietnam.

I live in several cities in Asia throughout the year but I call Himalayas my home. I reside a great deal of time in Zanskar - one of the most remote & isolated places on earth, at 3500-4000m to do my documentation and take care of more than 20 stray dogs of the village together with the lamas (Himalayan monks). For a living, I’m an entrepreneur in tourism specialized in disappearing culture and contradictory nations. I also work in Bhutan. I’m an avid traveller as well and sometimes on the road I would need your help. Please welcome me. I bring mostly fun and joyful laugh beside good stories :)

- A dog person. I make sure I visit the local animal shelter(s) almost every country I go. Volunteer there if I could.
- Love hiking/trekking. An avid Himalayan explorer since 2015.
- I studied Thangka painting (Tibetan Buddhist painting) every now & then in Dharamsala, India (2015) and Kathmandu, Nepal (since 2017).
- For a living, I run a small travel company dedicated to remote nations of the world and a thangka gallery in Bhutan & Vietnam.
- I live in the Himalayas when I’m off work. Have a home in Zanskar. You are welcome there.
- Side job/hobby: documentary photography. Been doing my personal project "Into Thin Air" - documenting life over 3000m in the Himalayan regions since 2015 till now.
- Love drawing and painting. I used to be a visual artist.
- Avid volunteer: teaching art class for kids, animal shelters, wildlife conservation, building eco shelters (esp. after the 2015 earthquake in Nepal which I survived).
- Nature over cities any day.
- Passed out after 2 cocktails. But I will drink beers with you if needed.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Travelled solo Pakistan for 6 months.

A lot of extended trekking along the Himalayas, Karakoram that stretch over multiple countries.

Survived Nepal earthquakes 2015. Distributed reliefs and built bamboo-mud shelters for 3 months.

Solo travelled Nepal + India in my first gap year (2015-2016). Hitchhiked across North India.

Taught art class for kids in Tibetan Refugee Camp in Lower Mustang (Nepal).

Survived a bike crash in the desert of Gujarat, India, alone... Almost broke my spine. Not a great memory.

Survived harsh winters in Zanskar at 3500-4000m in the Himalayas to do my documentation. Off the grid.

I do Buddhist studies along with my thangka class, esp. Tibetan Buddhism, and have very great passion for them. I’m not a worshipper of any religion. I especially study in depth the Bardo Thodol (Tibetan book of the Death) and its thangka art system, called the Dampa Ridga. If you are interested, we can talk about it.
