About Me

I’m a Pacific North West native currently living in Florida by way of California, England, Australia, and New York (with a few other pit stops along the way). I’ve traveled to 18 countries and counting. As a global health response worker, I’m a big fan of conscientious traveling, supporting local, and trying to ensure that my tourist money goes into areas that can really use it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m brand new to Couchsurfing but for me traveling is about immersion into local experiences and you just don’t get that from a hotel, you know? In the past I’ve generally traveled for school or work or just moved somewhere new, so I almost always had local contacts. Now that I have a bit more freedom to travel where I will I really want to keep that local connection feeling and offer it to anyone exploring my area in turn.

Interests

I love anything exploring. Scuba diving, wild caving, rock climbing, small planes, hiking, surfing, sky diving, kayaking, camping, yoga, motorcycles, etc. Plus I’m always down to try out new adventures!

I’m also an anthropologist by training, so get me near ruins, cultural events, festivals, local foods or crafts etc. and I’m happy.

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently reading The Tiger’s Wife, The Nature Fix, and The Lost City, plus have a stack of half finished books I’m meaning to get back to and untold numbers that I have lent out and forgotten.

I’m pretty behind on my movies to be honest, but when I got the flu this winter I rewatched Interstellar and the Lord of the Rings trilogy and I have to say they are holding up well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last year I went on an amazing five day trek through the Himalayas in the Langtang valley (the area that was hardest hit by the 2015 earthquake). Incredible experience.
