About Me

Irish law graduate currently completing a Masters in International Relations in Leiden University in the Netherlands. Between my Bachelors degree and my current Masters course I lived and worked as a teacher in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates for two years, during which time I travelled extensively through Asia. Now addicted to travelling and meeting new people! And of course having fun!

I love activities and hate being cooped up inside doing nothing - if there something fun to do with friends, I am there! And am usually the one that organises the activities and coaxes people into joining me!

Thats me in the middle of the profile pic by the way! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am keen to see more of Europe and think that couch surfing will be a great way to do so and to meet new people at the same time. I am hoping to make lots of new friends in the process and to explore their localities with them as I go. Also, from my previous travels I have made lasting friendships with people from all over the world and hope to continue doing so through couch surfing!

Interests

Love travelling (as you may have guessed by now) and weirdly enjoy organising trips, the part that most people hate! It gets the excitement going I guess, allows me to make sure I fit in the best things to do and see, and I enjoy finding deals in the process! Also love the things that travelling brings, like meeting new people, learning about other cultures and people, trying new cuisines, engaging in local activities and festivals and collecting unique experiences along the way.

Love getting the adrenaline pumping and engaging in different types of fun activities - used to play a lot of basketball, moved on to windsurfing in college and Irish football in the UAE and since then I have tried my hand at surfing, snorkelling, jet skiing, paddle boarding, cliff jumping, canyoning, white water rafting, paragliding, skydiving, zip lining, caving, zorbing and did an ultra-light flight over the Himalayas in Nepal. Love any and all sports though (bar soccer - snooze!)!

Activities currently on my bucket list: bungee jumping, scuba diving, canyon swinging in New Zealand, skiing and snow boarding.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: love artists like Coldplay, the Killers, Kings of Leon, Kodaline, The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, Florence & the Machine, Empire of the Sun, Fall off the Earth, Bastille, Ed Sheehan, Adele, Lana Del Rey, Imagine Dragons, James Vincent McMorrow, Macklemore, The Naked and Famous, Of Monsters and Men, Passion Pit, Passenger.....

Movies: will watch all genres of movie but slightly reluctant when it comes to horror/scary ones! Love comedy and sic-fi and a good tear jerker every now and then never goes amiss!

T.V.: where to begin...Game of Thrones obviously! Followed by Peaky Blinders, House of Cards, Narcos, Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Fall, Grey's Anatomy, Friends, Scrubs, King of Queens...

Books: Harry Potter (yes, I'm a nerd), anything by Mario Puzo (The Godfather - favourite book of all time!), anything Dan Browne...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is more unusual than amazing - I punched a blue balled monkey while on safari in Tanzania....in my defence he was trying to steal my phone from the picnic table and my first instinct was to punch him to get him to drop it....which he did...and then proceeded to steal my peanuts instead...i think it worked out for the best for both of us. . .

Teach, Learn, Share

I am open to teaching you anything I am able to and am willing and eager to learn as much as possible while I travel! I will share experiences, knowledge, insights and suggestions with whoever would like to hear them, and would love the same in return! :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

- Will be travelling on my own so would love to share my new experiences with anyone that would be willing to host me and has some free time on their hands to join me in discovering new places!
- Spent a lot of time travelling in Asia and living in different places ranging from my home country of Ireland, to the metropolitan city that is New York, the culturally diverse Dubai and UAE and the chilled Netherlands, so I am more than willing to share my experiences with anyone that is interested!
- I enjoy cooking and baking if the right utensils are at my disposal and love trying new recipes and adding my own touches
- I can practice English with anyone looking to improve!
- I can also teach you some Irish if you would like some simple phrases to impress any Irish people you might meet!
- Also love movies and t.v. series so would be happy to suggest or watch something during my stay!
