About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy life in beautiful Nova Scotia

ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm 32 and I live in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia - an amazing part of Nova Scotia (it's the oldest European settlement in Canada!). I have a 9-5 desk job but I like to keep things interesting by playing roller derby. I'm a novice cyclist but I'm loving exploring the area on my new Trek road bike (named Tina Turner - both the bike and the singer are fabulous). I'm a laid back environmentalist and a bit of a left winger - if you're neither of these things then you're still very welcome to stay with me but let's not discuss politics :) My passion is the intersection of science, policy and land use planning as they relate to the management of rivers and coasts, and I can talk about it allllll night. I play roller derby - I can talk about that all night too :)

I'm I'm hosting you: If you're arriving by bike, you can lock them up in my courtyard. It's not sheltered so if the weather is really bad then the bikes can come in the living room (up a flight of stairs). My fridge is always very bare so you might want to bring some supplies, although I do have staples. I have two cute kitties. You are welcome to stay with me for up to 3 days.

If you're hosting me: Can I take you out for dinner? Buy you a bottle of wine?

PHILOSOPHY

I guess my philosophy is that I think it's important that people try to tread lightly on the earth. We have no right to consume so much and we should endeavour to remember that our actions can and do effect other people and places all around the world. I believe that many environmental issues are really justice issues when you get right down to it, and justice is pretty important, am I right?!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted quite a few of surfers now - so far so good! Believe it or not, I've never surfed!

Interests

I'm pretty relaxed, I like a drink at the pub or dinner with friends, walks around the local marsh, good food, reading, listening to the radio, cycling, bourbon, and travel, although I don't get to do as much traveling as I'd like.
