Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m new to Couchsurfing, but really excited about the community. One of my favorite parts about traveling is connecting with people who live in the country and sharing experiences and stories. I’m really excited to see part of America I haven't visited and connect with other locals and travelers.

Interests

I've practiced yoga for a decade and recently started teaching, both to adults and high-school aged kids. I also love photography and really enjoyed capturing my travels through photos. Professionally, I worked in public policy and I enjoy a good political discussion. When I'm in Seattle, I love cycling both in and around the city. And food is probably my first love. I love to cook, eat and read about food. All. The. Time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books... That's a hard one because I'll read just about anything and I read a lot. But some of my favorite authors are Joan Didion, Jane Austen, and David Sedaris. Best reads in the last year were George Saunders "Tenth of December," Julian Barnes' "Sense of and Ending," and "The Fault in Our Stars." (Yes, I do love an occasion Young Adult book.) I can also spend hours reading The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and The Economist.

Music. Since I'm from Seattle, I'll always have a place in my heart for grunge and indie music. But my favorite band would be Belle and Sebastian. And I love a good pop song.

Movies. Again, just about anything. Except horror movies. If I see one, I won't sleep for weeks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Right now, I'd say leaving my job and travel for 11 months.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love teaching yoga and would be excited to teach a class to anyone who is interested (including those who have never tried it!)

Photography is a hobby and I loved to exchange tips and advice.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food! I love to cook and bake and would love to cook for my hosts. And I'm always up for a yoga class. I also write, so I love sharing a good story.
