About Me
Updated on 10/10/2018:
CURRENT MISSION
Make the world more sustainable. And share knowledge and ideas about how to do so.
ABOUT ME
Hi. I am Emil. I am a positive, outgoing and talkative guy from Denmark. I finished university this summer, studying Technology and Anthropology. I start a new job in november, so I am in California enjoying some American culture before I go back home.
Another reason for me to be here, is to visit some family in Novato. My mother was an Exchange student back in '84 and never really returned to visit the host family. Back in 2011 I visited the family, and ever since we’ve talked about going. This summer on her birthday me and my siblings gave her a ticket to US and back as a surprice. Enough talking about it, now we had to go!
PHILOSOPHY
I joined the CS community because I do not want to experience the world as a tourist. The whole idea about CS is what I find to be the essence of traveling - Create new relations and experience the world with someone who knows their home town better than any tour-guide or book.
Whatever one might like, it's always more fun to do with someone else.
And most important, be kind to anyone around you, spread love, accept people for who they are and just get the most of it!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am slowly becoming a better and more experienced member of this huge community. So far I have only had really good experiences and made a lot of new friendships! I am actually visiting two different people I met through CS later in October when I travel to LA.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far I have only CouchSurfed in New York, Los Angeles and New Zealand - but places where I had some good experiences and definitely not the last time I'm surfing the world on couches!
Interests
Im a very chill person, and I adapt quickly to social surroundings.
For sports and exercise I like to bike, swim and walk. I recently had my first Triathlon experience.
I like to watch sports that interest you, if you dont mind me asking questions. I watch soccer and e-sports myself (Lol and Csgo)
I have a passion for Sustainable development, and I am currently on a mission to learn more about how to live and work more Sustainable.
I prefer a private party over a club.
I enjoy playing board-games and computer games with friends. Especially if we do some cooking and maybe a couple of beers or bottle of wine on the side.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like a lot of different movies, but Im a sucker for sci-fi and high quality productions. Arrival and Interstellar are for example recent movies that are high on my all-time list.
I listen to almost any kind of music. Of course there is stuff I don't like, but I am open to all sorts of music at first. Theres nothing I enjoy more than sharing my knowledge with anyone who wants, and letting them share their music with me. Also creating music is something I enjoy. Though thats more for the fun of.
Unfortunatly I have tinnitus, so I do not go to concerts that often anymore.
I love to read a good book, but I'm not one of those that reads a new book every week. Recommend one, and ill look it up!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I did Red Bull “Can You Make It” 2016 edition. Ask me about it if you want to know more.
traveled Tanzania without a plan and ended up doing some quite amazing stuff:
- A 3 day trek through Usambara Mountains, where I slept in a small mountain village which never had hosted white people before.
- Beat boxing for around 50 children who gathered around me and my mate that night in the mountain village.
- Living with a local fisherman on Zanzibar for a week, cooking eating and hunting with him.
- Driving around Zanzibar for 3 days on illegally rented motorcycles and drivers license, telling the local police "me no English, me no English"!
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach and learn about living healthy. About music. about politics. about culture.
And any topic within sustainability I would really like to discuss at the moment in my life.
What I Can Share with Hosts
