About Me

日本語でも大丈夫です

Since I was born in '89 and up to 2006 I have been traveling quite a lot with my family but it was always the usual touristy vacations where you don't get a good impression of the real culture of the place you go. But then in 2006 I had the amazing experience of living in Japan for one whole year, staying with a Japanese family and attending a Japanese high school. That really opened my eyes to the richness and diversity of meeting new people. Every Japanese person I met was more than keen to share his/her culture and life with me and I got to experience the most amazing things just out of strangers' urge to show their lives.
Since then I have lived another 8 months in Hiroshima, and 4 years in Chiba and again have fallen in love with the country and its people.
Now I'm working as a Software Engineer at a young Japanese company. I have learned that the culture of a country IS its people and thus meeting new people and learn their stories is my ultimate way of enjoying any travel.

On the home front I enjoy playing bass (electric and upright) playing mostly jazz.
I'm a sucker for buying a new bottle of good alcohol I haven't tasted before, be it beer, wine or whiskey, and enjoying it after an honest days' work.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had many amazing experiences with couch surfing in Turkey when I was traveling with my friend. We met so many nice people who opened up their home to us and shared so many things. It made our travel unique.

I tried hosting from my student dorm in Denmark when I was in university but although I had great time hosting a nice guy from Turkey the 12m2 room was way too small.
But now I'm finally live in a house with lots of space and it's always been my dream to give back to the couch surfing community.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I went to Italy last year with my good friend Søren, we stayed in our tent just outside Lucca. But one morning when we woke up it was raining.. A lot. After waiting for almost 2 hours for the rain to cease Søren went to the nearest house and asked for shelter... And that we got! We stayed with an amazing elderly pair for 5 days and got home grown tomatoes, olives and fresh proscutto every day. I have never been spoiled like that in all my life. Amazing experience.
