About Me

Hi :-) my name is Emile, I'm an Italian/French/German guy who's living on Paris right now. Before Paris I lived in Leipzig, Germany, but my hometown is Milan, Italy and the place I call home is the Lago Maggiore, a wonderful alpine lake between Italy and Switzerland. I'm studying political science and I'm interested in the world, how it works and how it could work better, for everyone.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

During the past years I was able to travel a lot visiting friends who are living in foreign countries, so I didn't really need couchsurfing. But as I started traveling outside of Europe I realised that I could be useful to have a nicer, more personal and of course cheaper alternative to Airbnb. So here I am!

Interests

What I like about traveling is that it allows me to see new places, meet new people, hear new languages and eat new foods. Actually, the last point is one of the most important. I'm really passionate about eating/cooking, and I always try to recreate at home the dishes I've tried abroad, bringing some key ingredients with me in the backpack. I'm also passionate about politics, culture, art, music and sport and I enjoy sharing my views with my fellow travelers.

Music, Movies, and Books

This would be a long list! I'd just pick one musician, one book and one movie I liked recently: Tiziano Terzani / Goodnight Mister Lenin, a travel book made in the aftermath of the fall of communism in the Ussr, really interesting; Flying Colors, prog rock band, some pretty awesome musicians; Isle of dogs, Wes Anderson newest movie, just great and very emotional.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know if it fits this box... Anyway. One of the most spectacular things I've seen in my life was the wild nature of Sweden, during a sailing trip with my family and some friends. We were resting in a bay after a long day of wind and waves when we saw two deers drinking from a source, on an island just 50m away from the boat. Magical.

Teach, Learn, Share

Languages are probably the quickest and the most important thing to learn abroad, so I'd be glad to teach you some words in the languages I know, if you teach me yours.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook for you something Italian if you like. Fresh made pasta, pizza or risotto... And many more! Buon appetito!
