Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live in a studio, so having a couch is out of the question. I am interested in meeting people and showing them around town though.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Interests

I play music, read, and am a vegetarian.

My favorite musicians are John Zorn, The Locust, The Flying Luttenbachers, Cardiacs, Mr Bungle, Infest, and Yip Yip. I also like and find great influence in Balinese Gamelan, Mbira, and Baka Pygmy music. I also have a soft spot for traditional drumming from Ghana. Carl Stalling and William Lava are cool too and influenced everybody who had a childhood.

I really like reading Philosophy and comic books. I enjoy Parmenides/Zeno, Plato, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Derrida. The rest of metaphysics in that 2000 year gap between Plato and Nietzsche is rather boring, but kind of important. In terms of comic books, I like Y the last man, The Filth, Superman Red Son, Alpha Flight (guilty pleasure).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Most of my regular days leave me rather awestruck. Although I did do study abroad in Ghana. I also made a 2 month long cross country road trip from my old home in Texas to Maine, then to Seattle, south through California and east back to Texas. I made sure to stop everywhere along the way that I could. There were plenty of awe striking moments on that trip.
