I want to learn all that I can so that I can better teach my future students.

ABOUT ME

I live with my husband in our lovely small cottage on a dirt road. I teach 5th and 6th grade at a small town school nearby where we live. I attended a Liberal Arts college in New Hampsire. I have degrees in Elementary Education and Social Science. I teach mid-Elementary School children and anyone else who would like to learn. I enjoy going for walks and exploring. I am a timid adventurer. I love to eat, especially pasta and ice cream...but not both at once. I grew up on a farm in NH and want to have my own farm someday. I want to travel and learn and see as much of the world as I can for myself, but also so I can give young people a more accurate perspective about other people, places, and cultures. I love to laugh.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I learned of the Couch Surf Project while I was studying abroad in Florence, Italy in the spring of 2010. I surfed myself and now that I am back home I am happy to welcome guests.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had the great fortune to surf once in Paris and have had the joy of being a host, along with my husband, JJ, twice. We have enjoyed all of our couch surfing experiences and look forward to more in the future.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies; particularly romance, historical, comedy, musicals, and dramas. I will listen to almost any type of music and I really enjoy reading young adult novels and picture books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been a model for a painting. Sitting for a long time in the same position is more difficult than one might think.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn more arts and trades. I am very interested in pottery and have some experience throwing on the wheel and would love to learn more. I can teach someone the basics, but I do not currently have my own equipment. I would like to learn how to paint, and draw, and maybe even sculpt. I would like to learn how to grow flowers and vegetables and tend to a garden. I would like to learn how to quilt and sew better. There are many things I would like to learn.
I know many games to play with children and large groups, I know how to milk a cow and tend to farm animals. I like learning about History and would be willing to help someone learn more.
