ABOUT ME
I'm sociable, talkative, glutton, intelligent sometimes, a bit bossy, short-tempered, adventurous, so laid back in general with moments of total panic (usually Ph.D./job/publications related).
PHILOSOPHY
hmm... what am I gonna do tomorrow?
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Because I fancy thinking of myself as nice but don't have a room for you at my place, I'll take you out for a coffee or a drink and help you out, if needed, in quite complicated Bamako... right, I don't live in Bamako anymore. Well, in case you get lost in Dundas... oups, well, I'll help you make the best of your stay in Ifrane by showing you the town and its surroundings.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted many people when I lived in Mali (much less so in my small town in Canada and no one yet in Morocco) and it was always so interesting. I met some great people who had the most fascinating lifestories! I guess you need to have a little something special and intriguing to end up in Bamako! Many people around the world have hosted me and, for this year in particular, they were a life-saver! In the process of writing my dissertation, I needed regular reward/vacation trips to relax but, being a student, I am quite poor. All my hosts this year participated in keeping me sane enough to finish that damn Ph.D.! Thanks to all of you!
Interests
I love debates, especially on the topics you are not suppose to debate: politics and religions. Whether we agree or not doesn't matter, as long as you made me question my position by some strong arguments. Talking with interesting people is my greatest pleasure!

Music, Movies, and Books
Okay, so my tastes in music have been described as: "Stuff someone's dad would like." Gotta admit, that's an acurate statement. Yay for Jackson Browne! My nerdiness really shines through in my addiction to BBC documentaries. I'll watch anything. Really. Have you seen the three parts documentary entitled "Filthy Cities"? Fantastic!I sadly do not read nearly as many novels as I use to and want to. I read so much school stuff during the day, novels kind of turn me off at night... though I will always make an exception for a Russian classic!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was stuck for 36 hours at Heathrow (London, UK) and had no money what so ever (and no credit cards or other means to get money). Then I ran into that young american boy (around the same age as me, 21 at the time) coming back from Ireland and stuck at the airport as well. Just like that, he paid me meals and a shower at the airport while we were waiting.
I don't remember his name, I'll never see him again but I will always remember such an amazing person.
