Overview
About Me
I'm Swiss and working for a while in Washington DC.
I've studied international politics/security politics which is one of the reasons why I am thrilled to travel, live and study in many different settings.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been on CS for some time, and been using it in all possible ways: finding hosts, hosting, or just finding some new friends or simply just hanging out with people in my or their hometown.
Making new friends or meeting interesting people doesn't always come by itself, so I think CS is a great boost for that.
Interests
I grew up near the Alps, so outdoor activities have been a great interest/passion of mine for years (just not when I was a kid and my parents were dragging me on hikes - I hated it then ;). So anything of this kind - hiking and camping, skiing...
I've started rock climbing almost 2years ago and I really enjoy it, I'd love to do it with new people. Also running and cycling are cool!
Books and reading are another big thing for me. Have way too many, and it keeps piling up... I mostly read non-fiction and realistic fiction, as well as traveling books.
In pair with my studies, I'm obviously also interested in politics. For me politics are more a way to engage critically on a situation than a desired job - I'd hate to be a politician myself actually :)
I'm super keen to discuss your views on this and on activism and other kinds of engagement.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books! It's always hard to choose, but here are a few authors I especially like:
Nicolas Bouvier
Marguerite Yourcenar
St Exupéry
Teju Cole
Junot Diaz
Mohammed Hanif
Siri Hustvedt
Movies - I tend to watch more drama but also love absurd humor films.
The Prestige
Fargo
Take Shelter
Interstellar (not enough knowledge on physics to dislike it)
La Cité de La Peur
Music: I'm pretty eclectic - my two faved categories of music are electronic (hungry music label) and postrock(e.g. GodSpeed You! Black Emperor)/progressive rock. Lately I've been introduced to more metal music (symphonic, doom, post, progressive) and I was surprised to enjoy it a lot. Always open to new discoveries!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
the longest via ferrata (a sort of equipped climbing path, think ladders on a cliff) in Switzerland which was absolutely amazing. 10h course including 5h just climbing in a breathtaking scenery, it had been kind of a dream for years so doing it was an amazing achievement!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you some cool origamis - useless skill, but fun ;) And try to navigate you through French's crazy spelling and grammar. And we should definitely go climbing or hiking together!
