Overview
About Me
Hello, my name is Emilie, I am 23 years old student from Montréal, Canada - but have lived in Gatineau (five minutes away from Ottawa) for years now. I look forward to a career in international cooperation, international law (and most particularly international humanitarian law) as it fascinates me and I would love to work in the field :) My first language is French, I am Québécoise, but I speak English and Italian fluently as well. I'm currently in Berlin for the summer as I am learning German as my fourth language :D
I consider myself to be very simple, kind and funny - I always enjoy a good laugh! I'm hyperactive and very open-minded about things, I'm very curious by nature and most of all I enjoy trying new things!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because isn't it, after all, an amazing way to meet people from all around the world and have some culture exchange? :)

Music, Movies, and Books
As for music: I can listen to almost anything... but country. I've tried, many times, to no avail. Nonetheless, I've always preferred rock genres & alternative music. My all-time favourites are Placebo & Keane.
As for books: The Reader (Bernhard Schlink); Ken Follett's historical fictions; Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles; The Picture of Dorian Gray (Oscar Wilde); The Night Circus (Erin Morgenstern); many, many more... :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've worked in the House of Commons of Canada as a Page in 2013-2014 and have had the experience of first-hand federal Canadian politics. I've also travelled across Canada by train, which was great! And finally, last year, I did a 3 months and a half long backpacking trip across Europe all on my own; since then I have the travelling bug!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can help with French and English, and even some Italian, though I would especially love to find people to hang out with to practice my Italian and my German! Anyone up for language exchange?
What I Can Share with Hosts
I think I have a good understanding of Canadian culture, its politics, and more particularly my own, as a Québécoise & being fervently interested in national and provincial politics. & I enjoy all kinds of conversations, and as much as I can talk a lot, I've been told I am a good listener. :P
