About Me

Hi - I'm Emilie :) I'm a very social, happy and curious soul. I love meeting new people, learning new things, being spontaneous, and having fun. Exploring the world is my favourite thing to do. I get inspired every time I meet new people and try new things. I like to not spend too much small talk, but instead hit the meaningful, interesting and personal conversations - it's much more fun, and makes you remember people better :)

I'm very curious - teach me pretty much anything new and I'll be interested. Astrophysics is always fascinating. I'm also reading about the philosophy of boredom, the creative society, and the choice of being happy. I like getting inspired by TED talks, I'm teaching myself to play the guitar (and recently, ukulele), I'm practicing writing with my left hand, and I'm trying to get my spanish to a serious level. At the moment studying Narrative Practice & Coaching.

I'm a passionate photographer - I love telling stories through my photos (check out www.erolighed.tumblr.com) and have run several photo exhibitions. Most creative things are fun. I need to laugh everyday - luckily laughter comes very easy to me. I love chocolate. And ice cream. And cress. I love a cold beer. I like biking. I own 9 hammocks (don't ask). I'm a big dreamer and imaginator. And I believe that love is one of the greatest and most powerful things in this life.

I live with my wonderful boyfriend Rasmus. My family and friends are very important to me. I appreciate honest and trustworthy people. I like people with huuuumor who doesn't take themselves (and life) too seriously:P Superficial smalltalk quickly gets very boring, instead let's talk about stuff that's actually interesting or fun or meaningful in some way - even though we don't know each other that well!

My life philosophy: Live life to the fullest. In the long term, safe is far more dangerous than risk. I believe very much in living life according to my own dreams and needs and preferences - not letting others' expectations and wishes dictate how I live my life. I'm living very much in 'the now'. Life was never supposed to be easy, so embrace the challenges you meet and learn from them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Everyone's different. Everyone can teach me something new. Everyone can give me new perspectives on life.

Surfing: Always brings unique experiences to my travels.

Hosting: Welcoming couchsurfers into my home is a way of exploring the world in times, where I don't have the opportunity to travel myself :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to music every day. And all kinds of music, pretty much!

Movies... I don't really watch many movies, but if I do, I like those that are different. And not too predictable. For example I love: Mary & Max, Where the Wild Things Are, Beasts of the Southern Wild, and Into the Wild.

Generally don't read a lot of fiction, but I like to read stuff that teaches me a bunch of new stuff and inspires (or forces) me to think in new ways.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lots of adventures! :D Living and working in a camp in the venezuelan jungle when I was 20... Teaching photography to school kids in a tiny village in Uganda... Catching anacondas in the swamp with my bare hands for a living... Creating myself a local life in the highlands of Guatemala... Getting sucked down in the jaws of the Nile doing white water rafting on a weekly basis... Falling in love...! Watching the sunrise in my sleeping bag on Central Americas highest peak... Chasing cattle with latino cowboys on wild horses as a daily morning rutine... Scuba diving down 55 meters and with huge crowds of hammerhead sharks... Spending all night on top of a volcano watching the neighbour-volcano erupt in huge lava explosions every 20 min... Bungy jumping 134 meters... Meeting amazing people all over the world helping me to get new perspectives on life and the world...

A soft bed in one of the most hip places to live in Cph! Kitchen, shower, wifi. Books and kitchen are ready for your use. Oh, and I have a telescope to watch the stars (although the sky is rarely very clear for star gazing here in the city). I'll let you borrow one of my guitars and take a nap in my hammock! :D
