Overview
About Me
Hey! My name is Emilie, and I'm from Norway. I've been an active traveller for pretty much all my life, but especially after turning 18, I've been travelling more than ever. When I was 11, I went on a camp with an organisation called CISV (Children International Summer Village) for a month in Finland with other kids from all over the world. It was the beginning of my wish to meet people from different countries and cultures. I lived for a year in Australia from 2016/2017, and had the time of my life. I've spent a year in Barcelona in 2018/2019, 4 months in Costa Rica in 2022 and 3 months in Peru in 2023.
Other stuff:
- Been to 45 countries and 6 continents
- Love to go on hikes, but I am not in the best shape so I will halfway die on the way up
- Tried to learn surfing a lot of times, but turns out, not my biggest talent. That goes for most sports.
- I moved back to my hometown to study Economics (free education in Norway)
- I love animals, especially dogs. I have a little maltipoo that I will try to bring on my travels. Also want to learn how to ride a horse properly

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on couchsurfing to meet some interesting people on my travels, and make new friends on the way. So far, CS have brought me some unique experiences in South America where I got to practice my Spanish, meet a lot of cool people and explore places I wouldn't have seen on my own.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite music, hmmm.... That is one hard question. I like "happy" music that gives me a good feeling. Some of my favorite bands are Queen, Sticky Fingers and the Beatles. I also really like Olivia Rodrigo, Ed Sheeran and some nordic artists like Veronica Maggio, Astrid S, Sigrid and Nr.4.
Favorite Movies: Pitch Perfect (guilty pleasure) and Bohemian Rhapsody. In contrast to that, my favourite genre is actually psychological thrillers.
Favorite Book: maybe Brave New World, at least one of the books that made me think the most.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Living in Australia for a year, seeing kangaroos outside my window, swimming with sharks, sleeping with massive spiders right over me etc. Australia is truly an experience I would recommend.
Also, in 2019 and 2020, I went up to Svalbard, Spitsbergen, and went on a dogsleigh ride and saw the midnight sun all night long, which was quite magical.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to learn new things, and I really enjoy those deep conversations late at night, or the diverse conversations you can have with people that are very different than you. Seeing things from new perspectives is something I find very interesting.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Hopefully a good laugh! I hope we can share many stories from both travels and other experiences in life. I love having fun chats, deep chats and to discuss different views on life. Maybe we can share a drink or a good meal I will also try to bring something new to try from Norway!
