About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"I labor in the existence factory." ~Gyula Kodolanyi

ABOUT ME

I'm a 21 year old female, raised in an old town in the American South. I almost finished with my undergraduate liberal arts education (I'm an anthropology major) and I don't know where that will take me next.

PHILOSOPHY

I try not to assume anything, but to be realistic and always question why things are like they are.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I have a lot of sofas. I also really enjoy hanging out with people from new places, and getting to hear what sort of experiences they've had.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've never couch surfed before, but I've stayed in quite a few youth hostels in China. My favorite one served a giant family style dinner every night. Eating is restaurants is usually a fun part of traveling, but eating at this hostel (called Mama's) was even better because everyone came together and hung out every night. If you're ever going to Tiger Leaping Gorge, you must stay there. Mama herself is quite the character.

Interests

I like baking and cooking, camping, swimming, hanging out and drinking with my friends, and of course traveling. I'm pretty passionate about food, and interested in nutrition. I'm also really interested in human behavior (like culture and evolution) and global issues (but my knowledge of these things is very poor right now). Oh, and I like D.D.R. and NBA Jam.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like things like Bright Eyes, but I also love the Beatles and David Bowie. Wess Anderson is my favorite director, and my favorite of his films is The Darjeeling Limited (because of setting). As for books, I haven't had a chance to read anything other than school books since I read Wicked. I've been meaning to pick up the Economist, and I have a newfound love of reading plays.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once had a tooth pulled in some local hospital in Harbin, China. It's a long story. It involves blood.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't know what I have to offer, but I'm eager to increase my perspective on global issues and life itself.
