About Me
Hello! :) I'm Emily, a 29 year old adventurer from the UK. I am currently on a year-long career break from my job as a grants manager at a solar energy charity - living out the trip I tried to make in 2020 (thanks covid!).
I love meeting new people all over the world and really feel that the experiences you have with people you meet along the way are some of the best parts of the adventure.
I love live music, cooking, dancing, hiking, learning about local culture, doodling and I have recently become a qualified scuba diver - I'm loving exploring the underwater world!
I'm about to spend 7 months in South America and looking forward to meeting some of you!
(don't like having to write this, but I have a boyfriend - just looking for friends ❤️😊)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm mid way through a year of travelling.
Having just spent 3 months in South East Asia where I was mostly staying in hostels/ airbnbs etc. I'm really keen to connect with more local people and explore homestays and couchsurfing. My best friend and travel buddy has had a really positive experience and she persuaded me to give it a go.
There is of course also the economic benefit - travelling is getting more and more expensive and as I'm out for a year I'm keen to keep costs low!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I recently spent a week volunteering with a conservation project in the Sumatran Rainforest. I joined monitoring walks to record data of the behavior of local orangutans and it was INCREDIBLE to see them in the wild. The project works to protect and expand the wildlife corridor which enables the orangs to access the national park - I felt very lucky to be a part of such an amazing project.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am currently learning Spanish, starting my trip with an intensive course in Colombia - so I look forward to improving my skills with language swaps with local hosts!
I love anything arty and enjoy cooking
