About Me

Hello!

I've gathered a lot of official pieces of paper that say some version of "Emily is really smart!" But... I haven't found the purpose, meaning, or usefulness in the world I'd hoped each degree would offer. I have traveled quite a bit, in the U.S., Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, especially. At this point in my life - I believe meaning, purpose, and usefulness to the world comes from connectedness, and that is what I am seeking to build more of.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

So I only got to host one traveler before moving :(

Now, I will be traveling around the country searching for my ideal location to be more permanently! (The northeast isn't for me - it's way too darned cold here.)

Right now all I know is that it needs to be warm and within commuting distance to a Community College (hopefully one that's hiring). I have a couple degrees that I think might work for teaching a few different types of classes at a Community College level... I guess we'll see!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Thesis in a brothel in the Dominican Republic? Hopping freight trains? I was in a traveling circus once...

Or I guess, if you're partial to more official accomplishments, then I did good on the bar exam. (Trust me though - that's not amazing. It's a standardized test, and just like every other standardized test, it mostly measures how good you are at taking standardized tests).

Teach, Learn, Share

Geez... I dunno... I feel like I should have something practical to share after all those many years of post-grad education... maybe? On the other hand, I can groom a horse, fell trees, and spin/eat fire. You'd have to provide the horse, axe/chainsaw, or torches though...

What I Can Share with Hosts

Everyone says I have lots of great stories and should write a book, problem is, I never know what's a great story til mid-conversation someone looks at me and goes - wow! That's a great story! You should write about it!
