Über mich
I am a 24 year old recent graduate from the University of Glasgow. I studied my undergrad in History of Art & Business and Management and my masters degree in Psychology to move into art psychotherapy.
I enjoy travelling as it is, in my opinion, the best way to learn about different cultures, religions, and peoples. And of course food falls in there as well. Currently I am travelling around Europe before my graduation ceremony and returning to the US at the end of the month.
I enjoy cooking/baking, my favorite types of cuisine are German and Asian. I mostly enjoy baking breads and muffins.
In my free time I enjoy reading, watching football, running, swimming, and enjoying a cold beer, g&t, or wine.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
I'm on Couchsurfing to make my travels a bit more affordable (postgrad life and all), and to have the opportunity to meet new people, learn about other cultures, and hopefully build new friendships.
Interessen
My interests lie mainly in experiencing the world. Whether that be through art, or reading, food, or people and travelling.
My interest in art means that there will always be an exhibit that I plan on visiting while traveling, it's one of the first things I look up for any city I visit. I find the way that art transgresses eras, countries, and politics fascinating. This is what my undergrad dissertation focused on, particularly the use of art as a tool for war.
I learned how to cook from a young age, and as I grew up it more and more became 'fend for yourself' in my house. This led to me wanting to be able to make myself dishes that I liked, was interested in, and would enjoy. The fact that I love food so much (second most important thing in my life after my little sister) definitely encourages cooking as well. So I'll be more than happy to cook you a meal as a host or surfer.
My interest in travel stems from growing up with such ethnically homogeneous surroundings. And that is where I got my interest in learning about and experiencing different cultures from, it's a way to grow and work towards a better understanding between peoples the world over.

Musik, Filme und Bücher
My music taste is very eclectic. It spans pretty much everything from alternative indie rock to electronic house music. Some of my favorite artists are Mumford and Sons, the Civil Wars, Ed Sheeran, Hoodie Allen, and Snakehips.
My favorite books include the Hannibal Lecter series, the Lord of the Rings series, Dan Brown novels, and The Count of Monte Cristo.
A few movies I enjoy watching, no matter how many times I've seen them, are Waterworld, Highlander, and Dead Poets Society.
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
Replacing the head gaskets on a '94 Firebird before driving it 6,000 miles from my home in Maine to San Francisco before returning to Glasgow for my final year of university. That was real sense of accomplishment turning the key and hearing the engine roar to life.
