I LOVE my job as an English teacher in Valladolid, Spain where I've lived since 2017 with my cat (Ursula, I call her Usi) and boyfriend (Rodri). I grew up near Cleveland, Ohio and got my BA in Spanish and Popular Culture at Bowling Green State University and fell in love with travel during my year abroad in Alcala de Henares, Spain. In addition, I like to watch movies, read books, ride my bike, and keep a journal. I'd love to get to know you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm drawn to the idea of travelers helping travelers out of the kindness of their hearts. Also I love to travel but I'm on an extremely tight budget! These days I'm lucky if I can take one or two trips a year... I hope one day to live in my own place so I can host couchsurfers and pay it forward!

Me atrae la idea de que los viajeros ayuden a los viajeros con la bondad de sus corazones. ¡También me encanta viajar pero tengo un presupuesto extremadamente ajustado! Estos días tengo suerte si puedo hacer uno o dos viajes al año… ¡Espero algún día vivir en mi propia casa para poder hospedar a los couchsurfers y ayudar a los demás!

Interests

Travel, languages, music, movies, reading, writing... I'm interested in people who create things and help me along my journey of figuring out what I can do to make the world a better place. I love my job as an English teacher for this reason, I hope to instill and inspire good values in my students of all ages.

Viajar, idiomas, música, películas, leer, escribir… Me interesan las personas que crean cosas y me ayudan en el viaje de descubrir qué puedo hacer para mejorar el mundo. Me encanta mi trabajo como profesora de inglés por este motivo, espero infundir e inspirar buenos valores en mis alumnos de todas las edades.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: indie, alternative rock, classic rock, pop, techno... There's not much I don't like or can't tolerate but reggaeton isn't my favorite.
Movies: I like indie films and movies with good original stories. I like comedies and if it's gotta be action I like superhero movies. I don't like sad movies (usually) and I can't watch scary movies!
Books: Like with movies, good original stories and comedies are preferred. I prefer fiction but I also really like autobiographies by smart, funny women. This year I'm trying to vary the genres in the books I read, so far I'm doing pretty good.

Música: indie, rock alternativo, rock clásico, pop, techno… No hay mucho que no me guste o no pueda tolerar, pero el reggaetón no es mi favorito.
Películas: Me gustan las películas independientes y las con buenas historias originales. Me gustan las comedias y si tiene que ser acción, me gustan las de superhéroes. No me gustan las películas tristes (normalmente) y no puedo ver pelis de miedo.
Libros: Al igual que con las películas, prefiero las buenas historias originales y comedias. Prefiero la ficción, pero también me gustan las autobiografías de mujeres inteligentes y divertidas. Este año estoy intentando variar los géneros en los libros que leo, y de momento estoy haciendo bien.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've got a funny story of a time I climbed a ski mountain in sneakers to get pushed off a tower by a big Czech guy when I went bungee jumping all alone in the Czech Republic.

Tengo una historia divertida de cuando subí una montaña de esquí andando en zapatos deportivos para que un tío grande checa me empujara de una torre cuando fui para hacer puénting yo sola en la Republica Checa.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you a little bit of English or Spanish, depending on what you do or don't speak! I'd love to learn how to play music (I've got little skills but a lot of appreciation) or cook - or anything you want to teach! I've only got stories to share but I've got a lot of them!

Podría enseñarte un poco de inglés o español, depende de lo que ya hablas! Me encantaría aprender algo de música (tengo poca habilidad pero mucho aprecio) o cocinar, o cualquier cosa que me quieras enseñar! Solo tengo historias para compartir, pero tengo muchas de ellas!
