About Me
Hi I'm Emily, and I love the arts, and how they can communicate such a wide variety of things and really touch people. I think deep conversations are the spice of life. I've realized recently just how ignorant I am of most of the world, but I really want to change that. Realizing you have a problem is the first step to solving it, right? I want to broaden my understanding of the world and other people.
Besides the deep stuff I love cats, but dogs are growing on me too. I'm pescetarian. I've been learning French since I was 4, but I still wouldn't call myself fluent. Crepes are delicious. I don't drink as a personal decision, but you can ask me about it. I'm generally calm and joyful, except for when I'm silly, or something really makes me laugh :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I travel abroad, I want to do more than just read about history or listen to tour guides or any of the basic touristy things. I want to get to know people and places from the people who live there, to get a deeper understanding, not just some distant or stereotyped view.
In a nutshell, if I travel, it will have to be on a budget and Couchsurfing lets you do that AND get to know different cultures and people on a deeper level! Sounds like a win-win.

Music, Movies, and Books
Right now I'm loving all songs by Message to Bears, and some alternative, Pop, and Indie tunes. Loved the movie Wonder Woman!
I'm currently reading Malala Yousafzai's French autobiography "Moi, Malala" and "Ireland: The Autobiography". I'm forever reading "Science and Health, with Key to the Scriptures" and The Bible.
I am religious, but respectful and nonjudgmental. Religion is definitely not something I'd push on anyone, but I am willing to talk about it :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A month long study abroad in Ireland, where we've been studying identity through Theatre and Post-colonial literature. There we worked on devising theatre, which is basically creating abstract pieces of theatre that draw from our experiences. It was pretty amazing for me!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to learn more about different peoples, cultures and experiences, or more languages or anything in the arts. Then I can share my new understanding out with whoever I meet.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My love of the arts, a willingness to listen. Theatre exercises, singing & harmonizing, dancing (and tap dancing). Knowledge of French and piano.
