About Me
VACCINATED GUESTS ONLY, NO IFS ANDS OR BUTS!
Hi! My name is Emily and I live with my boyfriend Harry. We have a lovely, colorful place of our own now and would love to open it up to any travelers that come up our way. We have a spacious apartment in Torrington, Connecticut, that is very close to the Massachusetts border as well as to train stations that can bring you to New York City in a matter of hours! It's not the most hopping location in the world but quiet, pastoral towns like Litchfield and Goshen are nearby and there are plenty of great restaurants, local farmstands, hiking trails, and state parks in close proximity. We are right next door to a gym, grocery store, and movie theater and we have laundry machines.
I have traveled somewhat extensively through Europe while studying abroad in Italy and at this point want to see more of Asia, Central and South America, and the United States (my own country is so big!). We have a guest room that can house two snugly on a fold-out couch and can possibly accommodate a few more guests if sleeping on the floor or in a comfy chair is workable. We are 420 friendly, we have one cat, and we both have cars if any rides are needed to nearby cities or to train stations.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I truly believe that traveling is one of the joys of life if you're lucky and brave enough to do it, not just because of what you see but because of what you learn from all the people you meet when you go outside your hometown. I am mostly looking to host because company livens up a home like nothing else! In my experience making a new profile as a guest does not yield much luck in looking for places to stay, so the hope is to become more established in the community now that I have a home to offer up and then maybe that will bring some couch karma back to me when I'm ready to travel again down the line.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Some of the hikes I've been doing in Cape Town have pushed me to my physical limits but the reward is always the most breathtaking view! I've also cooked some kickass dinners in my day.
Teach, Learn, Share
I don't really know what I can teach, but I love long and cerebral conversations about social issues and politics especially when speaking comparatively between different countries and cultures. I also think I'm a pretty good cook and can happily teach how to cook some American dishes if that's of interest.
I would love to learn more about other places, especially how to cook foods from other cuisines! If you have a favorite scary movie from your country, please share it with me! I also know the tiniest bit of Dutch and Japanese so being able to practice those skills a little with guests would be awesome.
I can share my living space, my food, substances to imbibe, my art supplies, and my local knowledge of my tiny corner of the world.
