Overview
About Me
I love traveling and meeting new people. I can be outgoing , silly and chatty or can spend hours alone in museums, exploring city streets and people watching. I haven't traveled much in the past two years or so as I've been focusing on schooling and switching my career from design to teaching. But my current design gig has given me a great opportunity to travel for some "delicious" research to NYC.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Even though I have heard of couch surfing for years, I'm joining CS for the first time to use it for a business trip I'm taking in NYC. Hoping you can be the host that let's me crash on the cheap!

Music, Movies, and Books
music: cat power, tuneyards, MIA, 90's R +B and hiphop, wood brothers, stevie wonder - my music taste is all over the place!
movies: always loved wes anderson's films, baz luhrman's romeo + juliet, amelie
authors: salinger, steinbeck, dostoyevsky, gladwell...although, I've been reading a lot of expository writing in the past couple of years on culturally diverse students in american schools and integrating their skills + culture with literacy and reading.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The proudest achievement of mine took place in 2012. With an amazing support group of friends and neighbors, I taught many people in rural Panama (for the Peace Corps) about their human rights, about loving and respecting each other, about healthier living and sanitation practices, community awareness... And seeing their beautiful inquiring faces think about the things I had to share with them. It was an absolutely amazing and enriching experience! This is why I want to keep teaching :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can make you awesome logos and simple t-shirt designs if needed! I can also offer intelligent critiques on compositions of anything including: art pieces, a song, a room layout, a window display, a plate of food... I love learning about new cultures and unexpected things, trying new foods and learning how to say "thank you" in new languages :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm really bad at gifts, but am willing to offer any needed foods or supplies! Since I'll be coming from Seattle I could try to bring some smoked salmon! :)
