Hello! We are a couple born and raised in the Indiana cornfields but currently transplanted in Oakland, California. I am a marketing geek and Sam is lost in the world of chemical engineering as he is a scientist here California. Our worlds meet when cooking, playing tennis or golf, or enjoying a nice new local beer. He loves running and listening to podcasts while I find joy on my yoga mat and a good book.

We've always loved traveling and meeting new people - ever since we both did a semester abroad in college. Since then, we've traveled to England, Mexico, Spain, France, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Estonia, Finland, and Ukraine.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music in general.... I try to avoid country music as much as possible. I'm so American right? I don't watch many movies, but my favorite books would have to be Wild, The Color Purple, and Lean In.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled to Rio De Janeiro and slept on Copacabana beach. True story. It was kind of awesome waking up with sand in my nose. Makes for a good story right?

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to never forget that love will always overcome hate. We are all powerful humans. We are unique, and that is beautiful. We have our own ideas and opinions and we can express ourselves through words and that is an incredible gift to have. I want to use it wisely. I want to use my words to spread kindness, hope, and optimism. I want whoever is reading this to remember to love LOUD.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If I send you a request, I sincerely hope you can accept Sam & I into your home because we love to meet people too! I can share with you about life in 2017 America..the good, the bad, and the ugly. Or, if that still stresses you out as much as it does us, we have plenty of embarrassing travel mishaps to share as we both had studied in England for semester. Besides the stories, we have pretty rad cooking skills and we would love to cook up some home-cooked dishes for you, our host!
