Overview
About Me
Hey there! I’m Emily - a young environmental engineer, excited about exploring my new surroundings here in Oakland and learning how to do this whole “adulting” thing. I’m living with my partner, Malique (CS:

We are both quite busy with new full-time jobs, but can always give advice on places you don’t want to miss if you’re new to the SF Bay Area. If we do have time, we’d also love to hang out in the evenings/on weekends and find something fun to do!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My roommate told me about couchsurfing and we've been hosting couchsurfers at our house in San Luis Obispo for the past few years. It's been a great experience meeting people from all over the world and sharing stories and good times with new people!
Traveling is all about experiencing the world from a different perspective and the best way to do that is to meet and talk to the locals, which is what couchsurfing is all about!
Interests
Music - I play the violin and ukulele and like to mess around on any stringed instrument I can get my hands on.
Art - I'm a big art history nerd and love to paint and draw in my free time.
Zero Waste - Learning and teaching about how to manage waste and reduce our impact on the environment.
Being outdoors - hiking, swimming, exploring, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm too indecisive for this section. I like a little bit of almost everything.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Backpacking through Europe for two months using only Couch Surfing and BlaBlaCar most of the way.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach - You could get me talking for hours about the environment and how we can lessen our impact on it.
Learn - I will be an active learner of anything you are passionate about and want to teach me. I would love to hear anything that would open my mind to a new experience or point of view.
Share - My favorite things to share are music and food. Both things I believe bring people together for mutual benefit.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to sit down for some conversation and a meal with both my hosts and visitors. It’s always fun just to learn about each other and the way we live.
