I'm Emily and I like to ask people what makes them feel alive. Also, I love photography, having intertwining conversations and of course everything that involves travel, nature, art, music and food! How original, I know 😁 but really, to appreciate and share the little enjoyments in life is my favourite thing in the world: like cooking, hiking, swimming in the ocean, watching sunsets, feeling the change of seasons in the air.

In 2018, I spent a year as a volunteer for special needs people in Auckland (New Zealand), which shaped my view on life a lot. Through some detours, I came to study psychology of communication in Germany (where I’m from). At the moment, I am visiting friends in Belgium and hope to meet some new friendly people there as well 😊

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Experiencing encounters with warm-hearted people comes pretty close to the meaning of life for me.
Whenever I am travelling, staying with locals is something that I remember the most and also treasure the most. To feel trust, respect and hospitability in a foreign place gives me a lot of hope!
Also, meeting new people from all over the world has made me realize that a genuine smile can feel like home 🫂

To follow my lifelong inspiration and starting street photography in Helsinki, even though it was so scary for me to approach strangers and ask them for pictures. But it always led to friendly conversations, good nature or movie recommendations and of course the joy of catching sincere moments.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to learn most things - if I could, I would like to play every instrument, read every book and learn every language. Since that is not possible, learning about different cultures and life values is the one I will focus on at the moment :)

I already wrote about the things I am passionate about, like photography, cooking (without meat) and fruitful conversations - if you want me to share some of that with you, I am happy to!
