I'm originally from Southern Indiana and I moved to upstate New York for under-grad. I love to travel! I was lucky enough to spend my entire junior year of college abroad in Europe. I loved traveling by myself because I always met amazing people and got to take everything at my own pace. I never was able to try couchsurfing while I was there; however, my roommates opened our couch in our small London apartment. We had several wonderful young travelers come through, and I loved the concept. I'm very excited to try it on this trip.

When I graduated college, I stayed in Ithaca to work at the local mental health association as their community educator. I've loved my work there, and met some truly incredible people, but I am ready for a new adventure. I think I've just been in one place for a little too long. I can't wait to see where I'll end up next.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been living in Ithaca, NY for the past 6 years and am ready for a change. The city is beautiful, the people are wonderful, and I love my work, but it is just too freaking cold here! I'm leaving my home here to head to warmer weather, but first I'd like to explore a few options. I'm taking off to explore cities in NC, SC, and GA. I'd love to meet locals who can shed even a little insight into what the city I'm visiting is like to actually live in. I'm also, like anyone who just quit their job, a bit financially strapped, so the combination of finances and want of local input has led me here!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love most music. I've been listening to a lot of Joe Pug, Shakey Graves and Driftwood. The last concert I attended was Dr. Dogg.

A few of my favorite movies are Almost Famous, The Intouchables, and Forest Gump. I watch them over and over.

I'm currently reading Autograph Man by Zadie Smith. Before that I read the Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.

Teach, Learn, Share

In the past few years I have begun to practice yoga. I love meeting others who are also practicing yoga. I love visiting new studios and meeting new teachers. I'm especially interested in learning about studios in the areas that I visit, since I may eventually be moving there.

Although I'm a new cook, I love learning new recipes and sharing good wine and good food with others.

I study middle-eastern dance and would happily share a few basic steps or a bit of the history if you are interested.
