About Me
I am a history of art student at the University of Leeds and am currently on exchange at the University of Toronto. Very new to couch surfing but am looking for a way of meeting people during my exploration of the west coast!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Having completed my study year in Toronto, my friends and I are keen to explore the West coast. In order to have the best experience possible, we would love the opportunity to meet people who know the areas in which we are travelling so that they can share with us the insider tips!
One of my best travelling experiences so far has been in Detroit where the hostel that we stayed at offered us a tour which was taken by someone who lived in the city. This tour showed us so many parts of the city that we would never have found alone in our short stay and from this I saw the value of having a contact who knew the place and could let me know the best places to visit. Having had an entirely different experience at a hostel in New York where neither the staff or the guests were interested in getting to know us or helping us find our way around, I learnt that this personal approach is something that we would not be guaranteed to find with hostels, which is why I want to give couch surfing a go as it seems as though this could be a way to replicate this experience and therefore enhance my travels.
