Overview
About Me
I'm friendly, happy, creative and out going, a decent cook and really love meeting people, exploring new cultures and learning the history of areas.
I'm also a non-smoker, don't really drink and vegan but realise everyone is different and although I'm happy to explain my choices, respect others choices to eat what they like. Happy to cook for you and be flexible with a bit of milk and butter here and there to make it easier and likely to bring some of my own food.
Current missions: Increasing awareness of animal agriculture on climate change and increasing youth's ability to participate in the movement.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
So far couch surfing has far surpassed my expectations in giving me really amazing friendships, experiences, a more in depth knowledge of local life/history and I love to learn about everything from everyone. I would like to meet people from each region to learn and share with them.
I believe that pretty much all problems in the world come from a lack of understanding and empathy for each other. The more we met and mingle, the less of a problem I feel this would be.
After 4.5 years of being nomadic, I actually have an address and can hopefully reciprocate sometimes!
Interests
I love the outdoors, water in all it's forms, trying new things, adventures, dancing, sewing, building/fixing things and anything to do with food.
I love all games, from cards, board games and out doors.
My current goals are to of course met people, have real local experiences and also to learn more about how everyone is adapting eco ideas to live lighter on the planet.

Music, Movies, and Books
Anything I can dance and sing to - doesn't even have to be in my language.
My favourite book is 'The Book thief' by Markus Zusak.
I'm currently reading 'Psycology for a better world' by Niki Harré, which is a free pdf download through Auckland University where she teaches.
I like movies series more then movies. Favourites are 'Game of Thrones', 'Walking Dead' and 'Downton Abby'. I'm also a sucker for reality shows, but normally watch them while cooking, baking, sewing or creating something.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spoken on a few platforms at the UN in my environmental and health activist guise.
Traveled over 22 months straight at one point.
Spent almost 4 years nomadic enough to not ever have a postal adress other then my Mums.
Trained and fund-raised for 7 months for the London Marathon despite ending up injured and unable to compete, it was an amazing experience.
Dived with Whale Sharks and huddled with hill tribe children under grass huts in remote Indonesia in a horrible thunderstorm. I
I also have some basic travel Vlogs on my Youtube channel www.youtube.com/user/emilyjoyrushton
