Overview
About Me
We met at university and since graduating have been traveling around Europe. We have mainly been working on and learning about organic farming through WWOOF and love learning about other cultures and languages.
Emily (22) is a musician/singer/songwriter and has a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. K (25) is more of a handyman/outdoorsman and has a Bachelor's in Women's and Gender Studies and a Master's in American Studies (but should probably go back to school for social work or a PhD). In other words, we don't know what we want to do with our lives except for experience as much as we can!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We're BROKE! We're a couple trying to see the world on a budget and are looking for friendly hosts to take us in, and maybe show us a bit of their city!
Interests
Hiking, biking, camping, canoeing, reading, exploring, art, music, animals... we're interested in most things! Easily excitable humans :) We're both from small towns in the Midwestern US so oceans and big cities are very exciting for us.

Music, Movies, and Books
Emily's top music on rotation: D'Angelo, Angie Stone, Ani Difranco, Bjork, Tom Waits, and her GAZILLION spotify playlists tailored to every mood. https://play.spotify.com/user/129892639
loves reading books on anthrozoology/animal behavior, historical fiction, science fiction, and tries to discover female authors where possible. Zafon is a favorite writer, along with Hal Herzog and David Sedaris.
K's favorite music: Live!
I've officially been reading books that are not school focused for two months now! I loved reading about identity politics and feminist theory, but it's certainly been nice to get back to some fiction! So far on this trip I've read and loved Snowflower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See, Their Eyes were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman, and Finding a Voice (a young adult novel by one of our WWOOF hosts Kim Hood!).
We love watching a good TV show together. our favorites are Orphan Black, Misfits, Modern Family, etc. and are huge podcast and documentary fans, we love to learn about new and unexpected things.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We escaped the midwestern US.
For real though.
Emily wrote and recorded four albums of original music before the age of 18.
K started and taught a sign language course for adults (and their staff) with a range of physical and mental dis/abilities.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Emily is a fantastic vegetarian/vegan cook and K is great at and loves cleaning?
