About Me
I'm quiet, curious. When I travel I generally hit big cities for a short while, ideally on bicycle, then try to get out into the woods and small villages. I'm a sucker for good stories, good songs, and good recipes.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Hotels are crazy expensive and too sterile anyways. Meeting people is part of the reason I travel. And locals know the best places to eat and all the secret beautiful spots.
As a host, I would love to show off all the lovely swimming holes and hiking trails where I live. My favorite swimming hole is a bit of a trek, but you park on a dirt road near almost nothing and walk down a twisting slope to get to a small beach on blue-green river with waterfalls.

Music, Movies, and Books
Right now I'm digging The Savages. David Bowie, Neutral Milk Hotel, Fugazi, M.I.A., Mississippi John Hurt, Big Blood, Tune Yards, Bobby Charles, Townes, Clarence Ashley, Dirty Projectors.
Maggie Nelson. Rachel Kushner. Sometimes a Great Notion.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A friend and I were traveling in Ladakh, India, and got up before sunrise to go to a gompa/monastery for the sunrise prayers. So stunning to be up on a mountain monastery, sitting within a small ornate room as dozens of bright clad monks chanted and sang and played horns, the sun rising just outside the door. Such a gorgeously dissonant swell of sounds. Such a way to pray, to live.
