I'm a recent graduate, suffering from a touch of the burnouts when it comes to academics, but currently making my way through Europe for the first time and very very excited to be learning new things every day without having to set foot in a classroom. ;)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm not so sure yet?? I'm currently traveling, and then I'm moving back in with my parents. Next September I am moving to Montreal, however, and what I'll lack in local experience I'll more than make up for in the owning-a-couch department. You can come explore a new city with me!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am just starting out! I've hosted late-night lost souls in Toronto before, and I've met a lot of travelers who are also members of CS, but I am just beginning to reach out to people through the site.

Interests

Writing, reading, drawing, and mashing those together into comic books. I write poems and I love to turn a pretty phrase. Things I've drawn are on my Flickr, and I'm keeping a travel blog to stay sane out here on my own:

And: I stay active and I mostly jog and cycle - I ride my bike a lot everyday if I can, but if the mood strikes, when I hit the dance floor, I aim to conquer.

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS: post-apocalyptic literature (Pat Frank!!), lots and lots of webcomics and graphic novels, Vladimir Nabokov (Ada!), Roberto Bolaño, Lorrie Moore, Jeffrey Euginides, Vonnegut, Salinger. Every few years I reread His Dark Materials, Watership Down, and the Neverending Story.

MOVIES: Comic book movies. Life should just be FUN. Did anyone else see Thor? Thor was the last thing I REALLY liked. My favourite movie is SPEED.

MUSIC: Oh man, my favourite song is different everyday. But I like music so much! My long-term favourites are the Silver Jews, Chad Vangaalen, Cat Power, Fever Ray, Caribou, Destroyer, Pixies, Joanna Newsom, Sufjan Stevens, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. I mostly like songs with a lot of words and earnest feelings in them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One time I dance-battled a goth in a kilt at a club in Montreal. He was the only goth on the dance floor. He was impressed.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can write a super decent formal essay, and I've been able to help a lot of my friends with their writing, whether it was ESL/grammar-type stuff or general structure/thesis business, and I'll be traveling during the schoolyear so if I could help out I'd love to!?! I can also sometimes get small engines running, and fix a flat tire.

I love to cook, and I love to cook for others, but I'll be the first to admit my skills ain't so pro - I always want to pick up pointers from more experienced bros.
