About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Crafting Nic Cage in 50 different ways before 2015
ABOUT ME
The answer to this might depend on who you ask.
I think my closest friends would say that I am creative, loving, and generous. Perhaps they would say that I am a good listener, and that I always find a silver lining to lousy situations. They might tell you that I make tasty desserts (they're right, mostly... but then again, I don't feed them the disastrous experiments). They would also probably tell you that I have the worst taste in music of anyone they know, but am not ashamed of it (nor of my tendencies to sing loudly in the car).
My co-workers might say that I show up to work at 8am dressed like a lobster, which is apparently not normal.
My college's football team might tell you that I am a game-sabotaging villain, but they wouldn't know it was me, because they couldn't see past the chicken costume.
PHILOSOPHY
You are shaped by everyone you meet. This is why stories are so important!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I can't host now, but hopefully I will again in the near future! Until then, I love meeting folks and hanging out.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have surfed many times, and it has never been anything but completely great.
Interests
Of all my interests, what I love most is getting to know people, hearing their stories, and occasionally telling stories in return. Besides that, I love love love cooking, especially for vegan/gluten-free/other special diets. I love listening to all types of music and dancing in my bedroom. I enjoy printmaking (silkscreen, linocut, and stamping especially), playing flute and a little bit of guitar, and modifying clothes. I love drawing as well, usually goofy cartoons of shrimp. I also enjoy rock climbing, hiking, and backpacking.

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't watch too many movies, unless it's really social and interactive. So, usually my favorites are movies that are so bad they're good (MegaPiranha).
My favorite type of music is acoustic singer-songwriter stuff. I love Dar Williams, Jay Brannan, Josh Ritter, Philip Selway, Dave Matthews, Paul Simon, and Ben Folds. But really, I can appreciate something about all genres. Pop music can be super fun for dancing. I know most of the choreography to High School Musical and various other Disney masterpieces, and I am not even a little bit embarrassed about it. I'm also really into radio country these days.
My favorite books are The Sparrow by Maria Doria Russell, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, Apathy and Other Small Victories by Paul Neilan, The Color Purple and The Chicken Chronicles by Alice Walker, Blasphemy by Sherman Alexie, The Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler, and everything David Sedaris has ever written.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I lived for a month at an intentional community in Missouri, which taught me so much about the importance of cooperation and teamwork.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to draw shrimp, how to make vegan desserts, or how to paint your own shoes!
I'd like to learn anything anyone has to teach me.
