ABOUT ME

My friends would describe me as a driven and adventurous person. I set ambitious goals for myself and work hard to make them a reality. I make bold decisions to manifest the life I want. I am an extrovert and get my energy and happiness from being around other people. I have lived in many places and have a wide circle of friends. Honesty, determination, and passion are important to me. So is whimsy. Exploration is what keeps me engaged with life, so I constantly like to learn new things, see new places, and meet new people.

Interests

I have a large variety of interests. Whenever I do something, I put myself into it wholeheartedly. I love the outdoors and live an active lifestyle of running, cycling, hiking and other activities. Baking pies and other homemade pastries has always been a favorite hobby. I love movies and contemporary art, theater, and live music. Spending time having long conversations with friends is usually when I am happiest.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending a day and night in a small adobe house with a family on the island of Taquile is Lake Titicaca in Peru, where they made me the godmother of their young son and had me cut his long hair. Attending a small, intimate show with the rapper Mos Def in San Francisco, where I spent hours immersed in his stories and music a few feet from the small stage, then met him at the end of the night. When I worked in Congress, seeing a piece of federal legislation I personally wrote and promoted be enacted into the law of the United States to save a state park from destruction.
