CURRENT MISSION

I want to learn the skills necessary to help people achieve good health. I love the WHO definition of health as “a complete state of physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” I want to travel the world and soak up culture, art, music, and nature!

ABOUT ME

I am a native Seattleite and I love the PNW! While I was working for an NGO in rural India, I realized my passion for public health issues in resource-limited settings. My journey lead me to Bangladesh for a year of hands-on field work. After many, many years of school, I am now finally in my clinical years of med school. This means I finally get to interact with patients and learn about their amazing lives! Not completely sure what I want to be yet, but I really love surgery. My dream job would be a clinical physician who works in global health research. I would love to live abroad again!

Mostly I meet really amazing people with interesting life stories. I tend to have a lot in common with most of the people I meet on here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started couchsurfing when I need a place to stay in Dhaka, Banlgadesh. I haven't had a bad experience yet!

Music, Movies, and Books

I read a lot so I have many favorite books. I recently read a book by Bill Bryson and a book by Abraham Verghese, two of my favorite authors.

I love movies. I tend to default toward drama, and I do like documentaries. Can't beat a well-crafted thriller either. I'm a sucker for really good films, but I also really enjoy watching horrible movies with fun people. I recently watched Shark Night with a friend and pretty much died laughing ("I'm not just going to sit here and watch him die, man!").

My musical tastes are broad and varied. Not much of a metal fan, but I listen to virtually everything else. I love going to the theater and going to concerts or just hanging out somewhere with live music.

I love learning. I love immersing myself in different cultures and new experiences. I am a nerd, particularly about public health, so if you want to hear an enraged tirade, just ask me about the anti-vaccine movement... really, I dare you!
