About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To become a more worldly person and a compassionate educator. To take in as much of the world as possible and get a true, authentic taste of every culture I encounter. To save the world, one child at a time, by taking small and honest steps.
ABOUT ME
Student, writer, singer, future social-science educator, wild and crazy dancer, wannabe-more-frequent adventurer. Everytime I walk somewhere I bring my headphones, but sometimes I don't listen with them so I can take in the ambient sounds around me. I like burning candles when I'm inside alone at night. I am a cat AND dog person. I like the sound of food sizzling on pans.
PHILOSOPHY
This is what I strive to live by, encapsulated in one quote...
"The most important aspect of love is not in giving or the receiving: it's in the being. When I need love from others, or need to give love to others, I'm caught in an unstable situation. Being in love, rather than giving or taking love, is the only thing that provides stability. Being in love means seeing the Beloved all around me.”
― Ram Dass
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Currently, I am hoping to find cool, kind, interesting, thoughtful strangers with whom I can stay for a few nights at a time in Calgary and in Banff.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The only couchsurfing experience I have had was receiving a couchsurfer from China. My roommate found her here and invited her to stay, and she was only with us one for one night, but made a wonderful impression. She was so friendly and respectful and cooked us a rich meal as her treat! (Model couchsurfer!)
Interests
Music and words and people and experiences and cultures and big trees. I like to talk about education and social justice, typically in tandem.

Music, Movies, and Books
The lists of each of these would be insanely arduous to compile, so I will spare us both...
5 Random Musics: Radiohead, M. Ward, Ray LaMontagne, Phantogram, Beyonce.
5 Random Movies: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Blue is The Warmest Color, Do The Right Thing, Wet Hot American Summer, Fantasia.
5 Random Books: Slaughterhouse Five, Invisible Man, The Elephant Vanishes, A New Earth, A People's History of the United States, 1492-Present.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbed pyramids in Mexico. Watched humpback whales breaching in Hawaii. Spun around under the night sky in Northern Quebec. Marveled at redwoods in Northern California. Renovated houses in New Orleans. Spent five days in the dust and dirt of Tennessee in June. Explored Mt. Rainier. Wandered the cobblestone streets of Montreal. Witnessed the phosphorescent bay in Puerto Rico.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am well-versed in specific types of clouds. I know all the words to "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast. I also love making delicious salads. And if you're interested in talking about education, I'll talk about it all--pedagogy, psychology, politics/controversies, etc. I also am passionate about sociocultural history.
I would love to learn more about basic bike mechanics, pick up hiking and camping tips, and how to cook like an adult (my salads may be great, but overall as a cook I'm regrettably at lazy-bachelorette level).
