CURRENT MISSION
Collecting threads for my tapestry, one trip at a time.
ABOUT ME
I'm a newly minted adult with a resume full of random occupations like sheep farmer, librarian, knitter, teacher, writer, and student. I'm from the mountains of Virginia in a valley tucked away from civilization, and I've left the safety of those peaks for college in the city of Richmond. With each new opportunity I take a chance on, new person I meet, or new culture I experience, I am stepping away from my roots to broaden my horizons. I've packed the essentials in my knapsack: yarn, knitting needles, a sewing kit, a love of the outdoors, and an openminded curiosity for other cultures and ways of living besides on a sheep farm.
I've spent my summer teaching K-12 students to crochet coral, as we explore subject areas like hyperbolic geometry, marine biology, craftivism, and feminine handicraft in Richmond, VA. I've also learned a host of new skills, including but not limited to: living on a budget, paying rent, using crosswalks, navigating one-way streets, and eating locally on not much money. In a few short months, I'll set off on a semester abroad to St. Andrews, Scotland. On the agenda: hanging out with local knitters, volunteering on sheep farms, studying Jane Austen, and hiking every inch of the Highlands.
