ABOUT ME

Today, I write to you from a country which lacks a proper government, which has left its peoples and nation in complete chaos. People clash with the police force for their basic rights and freedoms against the fascist Turkish government. People die. Children die. These events: (violent police clashes in the streets, the prime minister’s breach of ethics through his telephone records, the government’s vans filled with fake votes for the upcoming elections, innocent children dying due to gas canisters), has become a routine part of our lives. As a nation, we are going through a social depression. I am distressed and upset, though I am quite far from the feelings of nationalism and love for my country.

In 1987, I was the first-born son to a mystical mother of Cretan roots, a biologist; and a Marxist rationalist father who was an electrical engineer in Izmir, Turkey (the ancient city of Smyrna of Ionia). I was raised in the Cretan culture, where women have an active and more productive role in daily life. I have been painting and drawing since the age of two, and began my education in the Izmir Fine Arts High School, then studied graphic design in university. After graduating I worked as a graphic designer in Istanbul, and today I focus a significant amount of my time on my art projects while I make a living as a freelance graphic designer.
