About Me

Hello,

Yoga; but I like doing other things as well. Literature, music, a bit of improv... comedy and acting; jam. Like going to exhibitions, plays and gigs,.. random events etc. I'm allergic to cats and indoor hairy dogs - I thought I'd better put that out there. I know, it's tragic. I do love them as well, so I normally get a massive rash but can't actually resist their bouncy lovey faces so I just stroke them anyway, it's normally fine if I take antihistamine. I'm kind and clean and like to be useful.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Having a bit of a period where I should have been living somewhere but now I'm not and there's no point finding a permanent place because I'm going to Sri Lanka soon to teach yoga and look after my friend's little girl, and then after that who knows?

Music, Movies, and Books

I get quite into more or less any genre of music, even jazz, depending on my mood, I just love music - small gigs and friends are nice. Contemporay authors, like Murakami (who doesn't?), Amy Tan, especially 'The Bonesetters Daughter' and loads of others.. urm, what's her name - Niffenegger? Also old stuff, read though some Edgar Alan Poe with a friend the other day and loved it, also Kafka is crazy good... Movies: into Japanese films, Kurosawa... Mizuguchi .. and all that - too many good films to mention.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Saved a girl's life! I found her unconscious and tacky, suffocating on her own vomit, locked inside a toilet cubical at some random tourist stop, commemorating Commodore Mathew Perry (Edo period Black ships and all that). I chanced to look under the door when something worried me. Anyway, I climbed over, unlocked the door, told her friends to call an ambulance (in Japanese) cleared her airways with my fingers, did sort-of CPR and put her in recovery. We were near some american military base in Yokohama at about 3pm! The soldiers had given her booze, and she was only 15 years old? I got sick all over me, which kind of ruined the ride home and also I was wearing my friend's top at the time - oops!
