About Me
Hi! I'm Emma, a 27 year old outdoor enthusiast who is currently living in New York City. Yeah, it doesn't make that much sense! But my passion for my work in international education and development makes up for the fact that I am surrounded by large buildings, not trees and mountains.
I grew up in the mountains of Maine on an organic farm and went to school on the coast of Maine. After graduating I moved to Morocco for two years, where I did the Peace Corps. This was by far the most rewarding and challenging experience. If you host me, I will talk your ear off about it (if you want). After Morocco I moved back to the states and relocated to Philly for grad school for a year and half. During that time I returned to the Middle East and North Africa region to do some work in Jordan. In December 2017 I graduated and moved to New York to work in the field of international education development. And here I am today. I work for an organization that uses education to close cultural misunderstandings around the world and connect students of different cultures. I specifically work on a program that brings students from Muslim majority countries to the US for an exchange year.
I love to travel to destinations that are a bit off the beaten path, especially if they are natural wonders. If I had to choose between spending a day hiking/biking in a new area over exploring a city... hands down it would be exploring the outdoors.
I love meeting new people, listening to their experiences, sharing travel tips. I am an avid reader, love to hike and run, and enjoy gardening. Hope we can connect!
