About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To make the most of every opportunity, and start testing the boundaries of my adventurousness.
I quit my job in July 2017, got a 2 year working holiday visa in Canada and spent the summer in Vancouver, working , climbing at Squamish and saving enough money to buy and fit out a van ready for the real reason I'm here, the real adventure- a grand roadtrip through the US.
I have a US tourist visa valid until May 2018 and now I'm on the road, cruising around West and Mid-West USA in my minivan, hoping to make it through the winter travelling, climbing, hiking and exploring :D
ABOUT ME
I am a 29 year old Australian girl who has only recently started travelling overseas. It all started with a charming Dutchman. I was swept of my feet, I quit my job and travelled for nearly 2 months with him in South East Asia. Prior to that, my adult life revolved around trying to build a stable career for myself, which was a fairly mundane existence.
I was privileged to see most of Australia travelling with my family while growing up, and I have moved to a new location with each new physio job. Then I went one step further and picked up locum work, flying in and out from Launceston to Sydney for several weeks at the end of 2014. The travelling lifestyle suited me well, but I fell in love with Tasmania and found myself back here again on Australia Day 2015. It is now the place I call home, the place I will always want to live and go back to. The climbing and hiking is excellent and you can still have a proper gnarly adventure in the wilderness, if you're into that kind of thing :)
PHILOSOPHY
Treat others how you would like to be treated
Discover the things that make you happy, do them and be happy.
Share experiences with others, and always be open to new opportunities.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
While living in Launceston, Tasmania, I lived in a great sharehouse with 2 of my best friends, and we hosted several couchsurfers. We enjoyed meeting new people and helping them find their way around Tassie. The only hitch was that we're all outdoorsy and often weren't home.
Now I'm on the road! Travelling through the US (West and Mid-west) in my mini-van, climbing, hiking and just generally exploring and enjoying not working, until my money or visa runs out (whichever comes first). I technically have transport and accommodation (the van) but look forward to meeting people (travellers and locals) and sharing some good times along the way
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first and only experience so far came through a chance meeting with a Belgian girl while travelling in Phuket (Thailand). I had yet to organise accommodation for the night, I helped her to find her way to her next host and I was welcomed along to join them. It was a great experience, and it sparked my interest in the concept.
Now that I'm in Tassie, exploring beyond the now familiar Launceston area is a top priority. If I could find some friendly and similarly outdoorsy hosts, or simply make connections with like-minded people down south and on the west coast, that would be swell, as I'm really keen to venture into the South West a little more and do some climbing around Hobart.

THIS TRIP!
Sharing a 15-seater mini-bus journey from the south of Cambodia to the north with 24 other adults, a small child and a live chicken.
Taking a local boat, cruising through the isles off Cat Ba Island (Ha Long Bay, Vietnam).
Wine and Cheese at the top of Ben Lomond at sunset... and finding our way back down in the dark.
Climbing around Railay (Thailand).
Snorkelling at Ningaloo Reef (Western Australia).
Attempting to hike and summit Frenchman's Cap (Tasmania) in winter. We didn't
Volunteering at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2013.
Teach, Learn, Share
Come climbing or hiking with me! I'd be stoked to meet other outdoorsy people (the best kind of people) along the way, and I'm always open to suggestions of where to go and what to do.
I wouldn't turn down a shower every now and then, or local intel on where I should eat, drink, any must-do's in the area.
I can offer banter, bad puns, an odd sense of humour, a damn good massage, free physio?
What I Can Share with Hosts
see above- banter, therapeutic massage, good conversation, bad jokes.
Will happily cook, clean, buy beers.
I'm clean and considerate, and will always try to repay whatever generosity and kindness is shown to me.
