About Me
I'm currently a graduate student living in the wonderful southwest Chinese city of Chongqing! I'm originally from the United States of America, and I'm an extremely openminded person. I went to school for film and tv, and am always on the hunt for new inspiration and ideas. I've been told that I look like the epitome of a NYC hipster, and to be honest, I'm not inclined to disagree. I'm a generally nice all around person, and I love love love all art. From museums to external installations to film and theatre, I can't help but think that we're so lucky to exist in a time where all forms of art are flourishing so greatly. So, if you're cool with all that, then we'll get along just fine.
Oh btw, my shirt's from Beijing. I love Beijing, don't you know?
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have traveled to a lot of different countries, and wherever I've been to, so many people have assured me that the best way to really understand and discover any country or city, is to stay with a local. A local can be a native or like me in China, an expat, who lives and has made it their mission to become one with the culture/language, and understand wherever they lives' history. I'm on couchsurfing to find other likeminded travels and seekers alike. The world is such a big place, and it would be wonderful to make friends and family across it. That way, you always know that you've got a home to stay in, no matter how far away from your own bed that you are.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite book series of all time is the Harry Potter series. Favorite single book, would have to be a tie between Watchmen and V for Vendetta, both written by Richard Moore. I recently read the Southern Reach series by Jeff VanderMeer and really loved it. I'm a huge fan of science fiction, pariticularly dystopian novels (Red Rising, Brave New World, 1984). My favorite films follow in that same vein. I 'm a huge Stanley Kubrick fan (2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange). I also love the film, V for Vendetta.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Left my comfortable home in the USA for southwest China, where I stick out like a sore thumb. Living abroad in a country that most people (both within and outside) think is homogenous, really opens you up to stares and gasps, especially if you exist outside of the norm. But I've come to love my home, and I can't wait to meet other people that are willing to make that plunge.
Teach, Learn, Share
Don't be afraid to try new things. As my favorite wizard philosopher Dumbledore said, “Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open.”
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am fluent in English and Chinese and have many good stories to tell. I'm also a pretty darn good cook and baker, so if you've got a decent stove and an oven (my friends in China, I'll be surprised if you do!) then I can make anything and everything that your heart desires. Under the sun that is.
