About Me
Hi! I'm Emma and I am so excited to be embarking on a fifteen month year of adventure! I am a recent high school grad who decided to take a year off before college in order to learn a little about myself and a lot about the world.
I love to read, write, cook, garden, run, swim in the ocean, have cool conversations with cool people, explore, backpack, kayaking, make ceramics, and make new friends. I play tennis and soccer, and have dabbled in yoga. I'm easy-going, I like animals and adventure, and I never say no to trying something new.
I've never have really had the opportunity to travel much, especially not by myself or off the beaten path, which is part of why I'm doing this. I have, however, spend time in Colombia with an amazing host family, have traveled to Thailand, Costa Rica and Alaska, and have spent many of nights under the stars in the Unites State's wilderness.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on this journey to learn from others and about others...not spend my time in resorts or hotels with other Americans or travelers. Of course meeting those people is exciting and part of the process, but what is most important to me is spending time first-hand with locals. And, what better way to meet locals then to spend time with them in their own homes.
I also grew up with two siblings and lots of pets in a small house until I went to boarding school, so I am not afraid of close quarters!
Interests
I have grown up in California my whole life...born and raised in Los Angeles, I also attended boarding school in Santa Barbara. So, a lot of what I know and do has been interested by Southern California life. Whether its hiking or biking or swimming, I love to be outside and active. I love to go out, meet new people, and live spontaneously, but nothing beats a night in watching a good movie with good friends.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite book is The River Why, my favorite movies are Little Miss Sunshine or Moonrise Kingdom, and my taste in music is anything and everything (and a little embarrassing sometimes aka country music and rap).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent 10 days with my 11 best friends kayaking down the Green River in Utah...as part of out "English Class."
What I Can Share with Hosts
I consider myself thoughtful, caring, and kind...and I love to have a good time! Let me cook for you or ask me for advice. I am always honest and always up for a good meal and a good conversation.
