About Me
Hello, I'm Emma!
I'm a relatively new user to couchsurfing. I got it a few years ago and ended up not using it, but this summer my friend and I will be doing the interrail and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to give it a try!
I've studied acting but like most of us who are in this line of work, I'm doing a bit of everything! Currently I'm working as a tour guide in diferent museums around Catalonia, doing theatrical visits for schools. I've been doing it for 3 years and I must say I absolutely love it!
I complement that with whatever jobs I can find. I'm always looking for new things to try, as a way to help me expand my skillsets and my comfort zone. Which brings me to couchsurfing!
Despite being a bit of an introvert, I've decided to start using the platform because I love meeting new people, specially those from different cultures and backgrounds. And I feel like there's no better way to meet and get to know someone than by letting them into your everyday day life, even if it's just for a short period of time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think interacting with people who have another way of seeing the world or who have grown up in a different environment is a great way to enrich your life. It allows you to be more open minded and it gives you a better understanding of how the world actually is. Since I've lived in the same place most of my life, I can inevitably tend to stay in my comfort zone, but whenever I talk to someone who I normally wouldn't have the chance to, I remember why I love it so much. And so I've come to couchsurfing to be able to invite more people like that into my life :)
I'm also a firm believer that the best way to immerse yourself in the country you're visiting is by meeting locals. Otherwise you can fall into just seeing the most touristic places and leave feeling like you haven't really gotten a sense of what the city or town is really like. And couchsurfing is the best place to meet said locals!
And of course if, like me, you travel on a budget, it's also a very good option if you don't want to spend too much money and if you want to travel in a more mindful and respectful way.
All around, I think it's a great tool to use and I'm excited to make the most of it and see where it leads me!!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent two months in Turkey by myself when I was eighteen, which was terrifying at the time! I had never travelled alone and it was incredibly daunting.
Luckily the first day was the worst because my luggage got lost and I felt very overwhelmed, but that meant that it could only improve from there and it ended up being one of the best experiences of my life. I met people there who are still my friends today, and it's by far the most diferent place I've visited. And although that came with it's challenges, at the same time I experienced situations and conversations that I never could've had back home, which is something I'll always be grateful for.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you a bit about catalan culture! Most people know about spanish traditions, but despite being a small region we, as most places, have our own traditions that are unique to us. You could see it for yourself in one of the photos ;)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm very clean and organized, a good listener, and I'm always very eager to help in whatever way I can.
I recognise the kindness and effort of hosting someone, so any small thing I can do to repay the person hosting me, I am happy to do!
