Overview
About Me
My name is Emma, I graduated from the University of Minnesota with degrees in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences, Spanish Studies, and Teaching ESL. I've spent time working as an Audiologist Assistant at HealthPartners Clinic in St. Paul, MN, as well as teaching English at a small non-profit community organization.
This last summer I finished teaching English at a middle school in Costa Rica. And just recently completed my SCUBA PADI Divemaster certification. I am now taking some time to travel while I begin job hunting again.
I have lots of plans and interests all over the board, so I try my best to organize wisely to get the most out of every new experience.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on couchsurfing because when I travel, both far and not-so-far, I want to learn about the culture, the whole picture, the food, the people, the community.
And CS puts me in direct contact with all of it.
Interests
I have a lot of different kinds of interests and I'm always up for trying something new. But more consistently, you can find me reading a good book, catching up on a long lost TV series, out salsa dancing with friends, and planning my next trip/direction in life. And if I get close enough to an ocean (or any unique body of water), I'll be scuba diving :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music is more something I feel in the moment, so it mostly depends on my mood. I'm definitely that person who would prefer to walk around downtown listening to the sounds of the city instead of my own created soundtrack. Though, I do have a soft spot for oldies and musica latina.
I'm much more likely to have my kindle on hand than my mp3 player. I prefer a good suspenseful mystery or scifi/fantasy/historical fiction adventure (or a mixture of the two?). I'm also pulled in by scientific current events and I enjoy reading research journals.
I love mostly all movies, though I'm partial to superheros.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
For all intents and purposes... I live out of one suitcase. I've miraculously been able to reduce my anything-and-everything I need into one bag, and I find that amazing.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love good conversation. Not the simple small-talk genre, but the real, heartfelt, inspirational kind. The kind where you can learn things about someone and actually feel like you know that person, even if you've only known them for a weekend. And I hope this is something that can be mutually shared.
