About Me

*** PLEASE DON'T SEND ME FRIEND REQUESTS IF WE HAVEN'T MET IN PEROSN***

Hey!
I'm Emma. In 2019 I finished school and flew over to America. After some farm work I got to San Francisco and spent about two months there, but also on road trips, all using mostly couchsurfing. It was a wonderful time and I learned that it opened many doors for me. I don't know when I'll be able to have the next trip or where it will go, but I'm sure I'll try to do just the same :) I'm currently studying music in Hannover.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I first came here because I needed a place to stay and didn't want to sit in a lonely hotel room that I couldn't afford anyway. But of course I found that it can be much more than that. Love this concept and that it seems to work so well!

Interests

I am very much into music. I've played in school bands and solo classical piano for a long time now. This is the instrument that means a lot to me and it's a way to express myself. Music became a bigger hobby though when I started playing the guitar and then the banjo. I love the traditional American folk music. I like imagining the backgrounds of the songs, see what they could mean to me and just enjoy their atmosphere. Except classical music, this is the most genuine kind of music that I know.

I am also interested in other arts. I like going to museums and looking at old or new paintings.
Photography has become a real hobby for me. I bought a good camera from a friend a while ago and took so many pictures during my trips.

I'm interested in sustainable lifestyle and try to take better decisions in some things like buying secondhand clothing. I really appreciate good healthy food. And love baking.
I'm a vegetarian so yes, I have to like and eat a lot of vegetables, which I do. I like buying organic food and always try to avoid to much plastic packaging.

I like being in the forest, swimming in lakes and rivers, going hiking.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is often the first section that I scroll down to when I read other's profiles :D

Music: very widespread music taste. I like folk music, especially American. Also modern indie/alternative and 60s/70s pop and rock. Love Bob Dylan, Beatles, Laura Marling, Faces, Neil Young, Beach boys, Velvet Underground....
All too much to summarize.

I like different kinds of movies, but mostly independent genre. Some favorites:
Call me by your name, Forrest Gump, 20th Century women, E la nave va by Federico Fellini.....

Books: "A high wind on Jamaica" by Richard Hughes is my favorite. Also liked "der Steppenwolf" by Hesse a lot

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Arriving at San Jose airport and seeing a real American street for the first time - felt extremely unreal.
My US trip after highschool was really the most exciting and intense time in my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

City trips, shopping, hiking, cooking together, making/listening to music.. :)
I can teach music, handcrafts, German or drawing if you like!

What I Can Share with Hosts

What I can give you except for what I wrote above is to leave you alone when you want to be, give you company when you need it and be friendly, clean and respectful :)
