About Me
Hello! I'm Emma! I live with three other lovely housemates (Adele, Jack and Julia) here in Adelaide, South Australia. I am really passionate about gardening, music, climate activism and art. Even though I'm a university student, you will more likely find me outside enjoying my hobbies rather than studying!
I love my little city, and I enjoy getting involved in the many events, festivals and exhibitions that run throughout the year. I also love my garden and my animals- I currently keep quails and a worm farm in my little vegetable garden. I'm learning a lot about organic gardening and cooking as a result!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Last year I travelled solo for 12 months, and I was amazed at the generosity and warmth of the many lovely hosts and host-families I stayed with. I really want to give back to the travelling/hosting community, and I figured that hosting travellers in my own home is a perfect way to do this!
I also just really enjoy the company of others (especially travellers!) and I am eager to swap stories, share culture and explore personal interests.

Music, Movies, and Books
This is difficult! My favourite books include: Steppenwolf (Herman Hesse), Nineteen Eighty-Four (George Orwell), The Book of Longing (Leonard Cohen) and The Old Man and the Sea (Ernest Hemingway).
As for music, I am IN LOVE with Cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Leonard Cohen. I could listen only to these artists for the rest of my life and still die happy...!
I'm often too restless to sit through movies, but my current favourites are The Breakfast Club and A Field in England.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I tend to put put 'reckless' and 'amazing' in the same category, so I'd say that the most amazing thing I've done is hitchhike through the Italian alps with nothing but a shoe full of mayonnaise. There's a lot more to this story, and if I host you you'll hear all about it!
Teach, Learn, Share
I feel like my passion for music is something I can teach, share and learn more about. I love getting out my instruments and having a little jam. I also love sharing my love of literature and hearing about people's favourite books, authors and poems.
My interest in climate justice is also something I am keen to share and discuss with others. I love hearing about people's political ideas and hopes for the future.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I look forward to sharing my own anecdotes and stories with other travellers, as well as the yummy produce of my veggie garden and my knowledge of Adelaide city.
I absolutely love spending time with others, whether that be conversation, making music, cooking or simply hanging out. I'm really excited to share my hobbies and favourite places with my guests, as well offer as a safe place to stay, relax and connect in. My own experiences of solo travel might be helpful to other travellers too!
