About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I am not hosting yet...though hope to when I have a settled home to share.
I am currently seeking the colour and light of new landscapes.
I would like to sketch and paint my way around the world - while meeting people within their own cultures, sharing my existing skills...and learning new ones.
ABOUT ME
Lively, sensitive, generally optimistic.
I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve.
I seek to notice value and beauty within my surroundings - wherever I find myself. There's always more to learn.
PHILOSOPHY
I see myself, (and life in general) as a work (and adventure) in progress. With generous measures of playtime, family, and friendship thrown in. True love is the answer - cheesy but true :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I surfed in Spain and the UK in 2013...so my references are a little old, though I don't think that I have changed much. :-)
I remember vividly that it felt wonderful to be so trusted, to trust, to share good conversation, travel stories, and food. I was so grateful for my hosts for sharing their home, and handy hints about life in their locality.
A man I worked for, (as his Live-in Carer) has been hosting for a few years. I felt privileged to meet people from many parts of the world, while staying in his home. And was naturally inclined to aim to help the Surfers to feel welcome.
A band from the Mid West of America dropped by one evening. It was during the start of their European tour - the first time travelling out of The States for one of them. I'll never forget their energy and enthusiasm...and it was a bonus to be invited onto their gig guest list. A November Thursday night brightened nicely...and while working! :0)
We've had some wonderful meals cooked for us. My favourite was Hungarian Goulash cooked by a lady from Buderpest. She even brought her own paprika. Scrummy!

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy Audiobooks...there's something wonderful about having a story read to you, especially if it's by the author, e.g. Julian Barnes - Levels of Life, Dawn French - According To Yes. They help me when I can't sleep too.
Music: the universal language. Bowie, Beck, Billy Holiday, Ben Leinbach, Dawn Landes, Ben Howard.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Climbed Stromboli in the dark, (small volcano island, off the north coast of Sicily) . Ate a banana at the top, while watching the fountains of molten rock.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am interested in sharing/learning gardening and artistic experience and tips, and perhaps some yoga practice.
I hope to learn about local language and culture.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Language practice. Yo hablo un poco de español.
Cooking, photography, art.
I could help out in the garden too.
