About Me
Hiya!
I am a traveler, student of art and linguistics, asker of questions, believer in truth and beauty, disciple of others, tall in stature and ever curious.
I was raised in Virginia and North Carolina (USA), spent some time in Glasgow (UK) studying photography, and moved to Portland, Oregon (USA) to live in an intentional community and grow with others. Now I am traveling, visiting old friends and making new ones for the purpose of connecting with people and places, sharing life with the intention of growing in personal honesty and openness, challenging others to do the same.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined Couchsurfing when I was 21, studying in Scotland and traveling from time to time.
I view the free exchange of time and life and home an exercise in diplomacy, a way to connect across differences, to learn and to educate. Couchsurfing offers people the opportunity to truly connect with a new place instead of skimming the surface as a tourist, removed from the real life of the place.
I also love hosting people and consider it a lifelong orientation that I am constantly seeking to hone - the art of hospitality.
Interests
Obviously, travel. Obviously, adventure.
I love art, making music, getting lost, climbing mountains, writing lists, giving generous tips, finding new ways to use old things, rain, eating cheese, taking pictures, philosophizing, spontaneous road trips, being sarcastic, picnics in random places, staying up late, word games, throwing a fastball, being a vegetarian, walking out of museums, combat boots, breathing, tai chi, psithurisms, discussing politics and religion (I'm never upset by these topics), good design of any form, and wind.

Teach, Learn, Share
We could do some thought experiments. Practice our divergent thinking. We could draw together. We could go out into the world and notice things. We could listen to and talk about and make music.
I have my certification to teach English, so if you are wanting to practice English I would love to help you! And you can share with me your language...I love to learn.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share company - I would love to spend time getting to know my hosts and talking to them about their lives. I can also do a sketch/drawing as a gift for hosts. If there is something you need/want in advance, I can try to bring it for you!
