I am a scientist who studies ice and climate in cold and remote places, luckily I like being outside and in nature. I love trekking, scuba diving, mountain biking, climbing and more. Originally from the UK, but moved to Germany 2 years ago for work.... and love it here!

I enjoy travelling (I guess most people on here do!) and am lucky to have had loads of opportunities to do this with my job. Most notable in the last few years have been China and Sri Lanka for fun and Antarctica for work - it was truly awesome!

In the next year I plan to do a lot more cycle touring around Europe with my sportier half (Rich) - so we will likely be hitting up some CS folk around Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and Hungary!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Simply put, I am on Couchsurfing to meet interesting people from different places - so much of going to new places is about meeting the people there, so I am always keen for a chance to do that, wherever I go!

At the moment I am often away, so it's a bit hard to accept guests at my place, but hopefully this will change soon. In the meantime, I'm happy to meet up for a coffee, beer, falafel, take you on a cycle ride around the area or a walk around town. Maybe I can even tell you a little bit about Bremen!

Music, Movies, and Books

I am fairly open minded about music (maybe with the exception of German Schlager...) I love live music and going to concerts and festivals. As for movies... "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" was an obsession of mine as a teenager and I still love it. When I get the time I devour books, almost anything from history to SciFi but if I had to name a favourite the Philip Pullman "His Dark Materials" books would certainly be a contender.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have made 3 trips to Antarctica for work, it has been a dream of mine for many years and it never disappoints. I hope I get to go back plenty more times!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Local knowledge of places to eat and drink, including vegan places and tasty craft beer bars. Ideas of places to go and enjoy being outsides in and around Bremen!
